Jaca Queen stops robbery

THE Jacaranda Queen is chosen on her suitability to represent the Clarence Valley and the City of Grafton and there's no doubt Cerene Lowe well and truly fits the bill.

Snatching a stolen handbag from a would-be thief and dodging coat-hanger missiles were all part of Cerene's Saturday night last weekend.

Cerene and her friend Jess Harris had driven mates to The Clocktower Hotel when they heard the sound of shattering glass.

Coffs Clarence duty officer Inspector Tony Milner said a man had punched the shop window of women's fashion store Go Girlz.

"We ran over and found this random woman reaching through the broken window and stealing clothes from the racks inside," Cerene said.

"She wasn't even part of the group who had smashed the window."

Cerene noticed the woman had snatched a handbag from the shop display.

"She was stuffing clothes inside it so I grabbed it off her," Cerene said.

"Then she started throwing coat hangers at me."

"I think she only got away with one piece of clothing.As you can easily experiment with the length of your skirt and shirt and open bra pics you can easily find one tailored to your exclusive needs."

Store owner Kerry Flanagan praised Cerene's actions and thanked the police for their help.

"It's nice to see someone helping others," she said.

"It's the third time in two months that we've had our windows smashed.

"I just think people need to be more respectful."
